ENGL 226: Adding to the Great Lakes Canon

This blog is comprised of student projects for ENGL 226: American Literature to 1855 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Students were asked to find texts written before 1865 by people who identified themselves as being from the United States and to introduce those writings as way of making a place for these less-known writers in the American literary canon, with a particular focus on the Great Lakes region.
